Lightmap has released HDR Light Studio 8.2, a major update to their popular lighting design software. This update brings exciting new features that will streamline your workflow and give you even more creative control over your lighting.
HDR Light Studio 8.2 introduces new LightPaint methods for shadows and shades. In Shadow mode, you can simply click on your 3D scene to position the light's shadow exactly where you want it. Shade mode works similarly, letting you click to place the light and create shading on specific surface areas.
The new Reflection Filter allows you to create symmetrical lighting designs with ease. Simply set the reflection axis on the HDRI and adjust the reflection direction, brightness, and alpha. You can even control the blending for a smooth transition. This filter is perfect for product and packaging shots, where symmetrical lighting is often desired. It also opens up creative possibilities for creating realistic floor reflections and water effects.
The Preset Library now features a new Audition toggle switch. In Audition mode, you can simply hover over a preset and it will be instantly applied to your selected light. This makes it much faster to experiment with different lighting options, including HDRI maps, lights, colors, and more.
Most plug-ins have been updated for compatibility with HDR Light Studio 8.2. Notably, the Cinema 4D plug-in now supports Cinema 4D 2024.3 and includes reinstated support for the native Cinema 4D renderer.
Overall, HDR Light Studio 8.2 is a significant update that offers powerful new features for lighting designers. Whether you're looking for precise shadow control, symmetrical lighting effects, or a faster way to test presets, HDR Light Studio 8.2 has you covered.
